Atlantans know this place well, as do many people around the world. The place has a global reputation. It serves as an icon to many when they think of Atlanta. “What’ll ya have! What’ll ya have! Is what you hear when you walk in. The Varsity has been in business since 1928 when Frank Gordy began selling hot dogs to Georgia Tech students. Having started on a 70’ x 120’ lot with a white picket fence, The “V” has evolved into a 2 city block “Lunching Pad” making it the “World’s Largest Drive-In”. When Georgia Tech plays at home, over 30,000 people visit The Varsity. Two miles of hot dogs, a ton of onions, 2500 pounds of potatoes, 5000 fried pies and 300 gallons of chili are made from scratch daily. It’s only fitting that a long standing Atlanta institution such as The Varsity, recently commemorating its 86th anniversary, should deserve a fun and rocking song such as AT THE VARSITY.
