I Was Nearby When Hank Aaron Hit Home Run # 715 40 Years Ago

Atlanta Braves honor Hank Aaron on the 40th anniversary of his breaking of Babe Ruth’s home run record today.  In 1974, I was working as a disc jockey at Georgia State University’s WRAS 88.5. Hank hit his 715th home run while I was driving in for my shift, and I was able to witness the fireworks while driving down Juniper Street. I immediately ran into the station and ripped the first headline from the AP ticker printer and kept it for years.I kept the copy for years, but it appears to have gone away. Hank is still the Home Run King.
