MUSIC EXPERIENCE OVERVIEW
Veteran guitarist accomplished in electric and acoustic guitar instruction, performing, lead vocals, and songwriting. Traditionally influenced by Blues, Rock, Americana, and Folk, currently performing as an electric guitar driven trio, solo acoustic performer, presenter of guitar workshops nationwide, personal and online guitar instruction.
September, 2015 – Inducted to the Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame
February, 2013 – Present – Guitar Instructor – Ponier Music – Marietta, GA
April, 2013 – 2020 – Served on Advisory Board of The Georgia Music Industry Association.
2024 – Present – Roger “Hurricane” Wilson Trio – Currently performing, recording, and touring.
2008 – Present – Bluebird Café – Nashville, TN. Featured songwriter appearing regularly at the Sunday Night
Writers’ Night.
2009 – 2010 – Willie “Big Eyes” Smith Duo Tour – Toured nationally as a duo on acoustic guitar and vocals with this late 2011 Grammy winner, and legendary and long time member of the Muddy Waters Band. Released one critically acclaimed live CD in 2012.

2008 – Present – Judge – International Blues Competition – Memphis, TN – Act in capacity of judge whenever possible in this annual global competition spearheaded by the Blues Foundation.

1992 – Present: Roger “Hurricane” Wilson – Kennesaw, GA: Recorded over 20 CD’s since 1994 and has toured extensively across the U.S. and parts of Europe in clubs and festivals. Has opened for such acts as B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Little Milton, Magic Slim, Hubert Sumlin, John Mayall, and many other national touring acts.

1998 – Present – Bluestorm Records/ Brux Music Publishing – Kennesaw, GA: Own and operate this independent nationally distributed record company and BMI affiliated publishing company, and recognized BMI affiliated songwriter.

1983 – 1992 – Roger Wilson & The Low Overhead Band – Atlanta, GA: Fronted a 3 piece guitar driven trio mainly in Georgia and regionally around the southeastern U.S. Opened for such acts as Stephen Stills, Three Dog Night, Little Feat, Restless Heart, Wet Willie, and the Marshall Tucker Band. Released 1 studio recorded commercial cassette tape in 1990. A 25th Anniversary Reissue CD was released in 2015..
1978 – 1983 – Roger Wilson Band – Atlanta, GA: Lead and performed as 4 piece band around Atlanta, GA as well as the southeast. Released 1 commercial LP record album in 1979.
1973 – Present – Roger Wilson Guitar Studio – Atlanta, GA – Owned and operated this brick and mortar business full time in 2 locations over 12 years. Instructed hundreds of students in various guitar styles including theory, ear training, improvisation, flat pick, and finger style.
